Beijing Auto, who acquired the recently replaced 9-5 and the last generation 9-3, are looking into producing an electric Saab in 2011; it has been reported by China Car Times. It is reported that incentives and subsidies is being offered by the government to ensure that they meet their energy policy promoting electric vehicles. Beijing Auto is planning to produce 3000 pure electric C71 saloons, which is based on the previous generation 9-5. Beijing Auto is planning to work with the government to help set up charging points around the city, businesses and homes. There is no confirmation on pricing, but it is expected to be competitively priced due to technology been brought in from Saab.
