Saabs TT rival hots up.
UK weekly motoring magazine, Autoexpress has learned plans to resurrect the famous Saab sports car of the 70s, the Saab Sonnett, and it is to go head to head with the Audi TT. Since Spyker took over early this year, the firm has been boosting in confidence with talk of exciting new models and millions of pounds been spent on promoting the new Saab 9-5. This confidence is further expressed by the appointment of a new design boss Jason Castriota, who is planning a major offensive. Autoexpress managed to secure an exclusive interview with the new design boss, and ex-Bertone and Pininfarina designer who was responsible for the Maserati GranTurismo and others.

Well a group calling itself the Saab91 Support Group seem to be convinced that they can persuade Saab to build a smaller Saab, notably the Saab 91.  They created these renderings a few days ago and they  seem to be causing some discussion. Whilst Victor Muller CEO of Saab, has hinted that they are looking into developing a smaller car, this group are focussing their efforts for a Saab 91.  With inspirations been taken from a Jet plane, it also seems to carrydesign cues from the BioHybrid and Aero X concept cars. It was reported several weeks ago that Saab are in discussion with BMW, about using some of its engines and platform sharing to help it to develop a smaller Saab, notbaly the Saab 92.  If this does materialise, it will help Saab to offers its first small car with possibly a new group of customers to Saab brand.  We all wait in anticipation.
