Saabs TT rival hots up.
UK weekly motoring magazine, Autoexpress has learned plans to resurrect the famous Saab sports car of the 70s, the Saab Sonnett, and it is to go head to head with the Audi TT. Since Spyker took over early this year, the firm has been boosting in confidence with talk of exciting new models and millions of pounds been spent on promoting the new Saab 9-5. This confidence is further expressed by the appointment of a new design boss Jason Castriota, who is planning a major offensive. Autoexpress managed to secure an exclusive interview with the new design boss, and ex-Bertone and Pininfarina designer who was responsible for the Maserati GranTurismo and others.

For those who follow popular British motoring programme Top Gear, may recall in the last series James May one of the three presenters was looking forward to the test driving the new 9-5, whilst the co-presenters were mocking only if the car company is around next year but that was back in December when GM started its winding down of Saab. We have received unconfirmed reports that James May is likely to get a new 9-5 to drive for several months courtesy of Saab GB.  Top Gear has a large following not only in the UK but worldwide and certainly one of its presenters owning a Saab would work very favourable for the brand and for the new 9-5. Watch this space for more details and Top Gear has returned to the with a new series on Sunday on BBC at 8pm.
